How long IP rights last in Nepal
Under Nepal’s intellectual-property law, a trademark is protected for 7 years from registration and can be renewed repeatedly, keeping your brand protected indefinitely as long as you renew on time. A patent lasts 7 years (renewable under the Act), and an industrial design lasts 5 years. Knowing your term is the first step to never missing a deadline.
The 90-day opposition window
After your mark is examined and accepted, it is published in the Department of Industry’s Industrial Property Bulletin. Third parties then have 90 days to file an opposition before the mark proceeds to registration.
